• Some thoughts from a TCHS Science Teacher after recently attending IB training:

"My trip to Denver [for IB training] was great.  I learned about the IB program and how science is taught within the program.  The teaching style for the IB is VERY similar to the “How Does the Ocean Get Salty” activity that we completed last week.  The activity was very challenging, but it made you THINK!  I could have given notes over the subject in 10 minutes.  Instead, we took 90 minutes to discover the answer to the question through data analysis.  The student thought about what data they needed to answer the questions and got it.  I didn’t tell them what data they needed, they had to figure it out for themselves.  The IB way of teaching will make your son/daughter a better thinker.  I have no doubt in my mind that it will benefit all those involved in the program.  Freshmen students should all consider this program in their future.  It is rigorous, but VERY beneficial.  The old cliché states that there is no gain without pain.  The IB program will make your brain hurt, but the gain involved afterwards will place you far ahead of the average student in America."
